Mr Vice President, the YC takes note of the report of the **** Commissioner and reiterates its call for the greater focus on human rights situations of Rohingya Muslims who have been victims of decades long institutionalised discrimination, marginalisation and long standing persecution.
The YC is concerned over the grave human rights violations and abuses against Rohingya Muslims and other minorities in Myanmar.
The ongoing violence, killings, burnings and shelling attest to the fact that resolution of the Rohingya crisis could not be considered secondary to finding a solution to the political crisis in Myanmar.
We welcome continuous dialogue between Bangladesh and Myanmar over the commencement of repatriation through a pilot project.
Repatriation of Rohingyas from Bangladesh and other host states to Myanmar with safety and dignity is vital for finding a durable solution of the Rohingya crisis.
The YC urges Myanmar to implement all recommendations of the Advisory Commission on Rohingya State on on Rakhine State, including a clear pathway to citizenship for the Rohingya.
Fully comply with IC JS provisional mayors and cooperate with all ongoing international accountability mechanisms.
Allow the full, safe and unhindered excess of humanitarian actors.
Incentivize and communicate.
Commence repatriation of the Rohingyas from Bangladesh and other host states.
Mr.
President, we are alarmed by the diminishing global attention to the humanitarian needs of the Rohingyas.
The OIC also urges the **** Commissioner to continue his efforts for a durable solution of the Rohingya crisis in line with his mandate.
