Pero los demás no tienen absolutamente a dónde ir, viven al aire libre, viven en el frío, en el barro y bajo la lluvia. Donde quiera que mires, está congestionado con refugios improvisados, donde quiera que vayas, la gente está desesperada, hambrienta y aterrorizada.”

El hambre es algo que la gente en Gaza nunca había conocido antes. Pero el hambre ha surgido en las últimas semanas y nos encontramos con más y más personas que no han comido durante uno, dos o tres días.”

Piensen, este también es un momento decisivo para todos nosotros y para nuestra humanidad compartida”.

Cuanto más dure esta guerra, mayor será la pérdida, pero más allá de eso, más profundo será el dolor. Así que, creo, como muchos de mis colegas, que no hay absolutamente ninguna alternativa a un proceso político adecuado y genuino para poner fin de una vez por todas al conflicto no resuelto más largo. 75 años sin una solución.”

- DECLARACIÓN (INGLÉS) - Philippe Lazzarini, Comisionado General de UNRWA: “Nos enfrentamos a una guerra sin precedentes, creo que es una guerra de todos los superlativos posibles, en términos de destrucción, en términos de número de personas muertas, en términos de necesidades, en términos de desplazamiento, y más que nunca, los países con una tradición humanitaria deberían continuar expresando su solidaridad, y hoy la principal agencia en la Franja de Gaza es UNRWA. Y si UNRWA colapsara, todo el sistema humanitario en la Franja de Gaza colapsaría.”
