        Les professionnels de la santé de Gaza doivent être au centre de la reconstruction de l'enclave, insiste un haut responsable de l'OMS

        Près de huit mois de guerre à Gaza ont dévasté les hôpitaux et les cliniques de l'enclave, mais de nombreux professionnels de la santé qualifiés sont toujours là et engagés à faire partie de son avenir, a déclaré un haut responsable de l'Organisation mondiale de la santé (OMS) des Nations Unies à UN News.

        « Il y a beaucoup de professionnels de la santé très compétents à Gaza, et ils devraient être très impliqués - ils devraient en fait être le centre - de tout processus de reconstruction et de réhabilitation », a déclaré le Dr Rik Peeperkorn, Représentant de l'OMS en Palestine.

        « Beaucoup d'entre eux sont des bénévoles, la plupart ne reçoivent aucun salaire. Nous devons donc également penser à toute l'approche des ressources humaines pour nous assurer que nous remettons les travailleurs de la santé palestiniens en place et qu'ils travaillent effectivement vers une solution palestinienne. »

        Dans une interview à large portée avec UN News mercredi, le vétéran humanitaire a également condamné la frappe aérienne israélienne de dimanche dernier sur un camp de personnes déplacées de force à Tal al-Sultan qui a fait des dizaines de morts.

        Le Dr Peeperkorn a également réitéré son appel à un cessez-le-feu pour garantir la livraison de fournitures médicales désespérément nécessaires et a expliqué certains des obstacles auxquels les hôpitaux sont confrontés pour se procurer des machines à rayons X simples afin que les équipes médicales puissent aider efficacement les patients blessés.
